SwingReview Support

User Guide

1. How Do I Use SwingReview?

SwingReview supports three practice protocols:

  1. Swing once, Review, and Adjust

  2. Keep swinging until it feels right, then Review and Adjust

  3. Swing at the range, Review later at home

When making a swing change, we recommend starting with the first protocol for maximum feedback, before moving to more advanced protocols as you build trust in the new motion. Each protocol maps to one of the three possible setting combinations in the capture view:

  1. After a swing: Review it

  2. After a swing: Keep recording, Save last swing: Manually

  3. After a swing: Keep recording, Save last swing: Automatically

I recommend turning off your phone's Silent Mode and increasing the volume the first time you use SwingReview so you can hear its audio cues. Once you're confident that SwingReview is accurately detecting your swings, you can use it in Silent Mode.

Common Issues

1. My Swing Is Not Being Detected

If the capture view says "Step into view", check the following:

  • Your body is entirely within the view of the camera

  • You are wearing clothing that separates you from the background

  • There is enough light in the environment

If the capture view says "Make a swing", check the following:

  • You are recording in either the face-on or down-the-line position

  • You are making a large enough swing (three quarters or greater)

  • You are completing your swing (follow through, face the target, get on your trail toe)

  • Your phone is held still, ideally on a tripod

If none of the above worked, you may send me a video of your swing for further diagnosis.

2. Swings Are Being Detected When They Should Not Be

Any motion that could be considered a golf swing will be detected as a swing, regardless of whether a ball was hit. This is intentional, as it allows golfers to practice indoors without a ball, or even without a club.

Check the following:

  • You are the only person in view of the camera making a swing

  • Your practice swings and waggles are slower or shorter than your actual swing

If your practice swings are still being detected, you can change the capture settings to:

  • After a swing: Keep Recording

  • Save last swing: Manually

Then, after your final and actual swing, tap the "Save" button at the bottom of the screen to save the last recording. The earlier recordings of your practice swing(s) will be automatically deleted.
